WHAT'S HAPPENING?

It is time for a general "refresh" of several of Tarpon Springs' downtown planning efforts! The City is kicking off updates to various downtown redevelopment plans and the zoning code. We are looking to create a single, consolidated document and vision that will help guide downtown's future. The City has teamed up with Inspire Placemaking Collective, Inc. (Inspire) to assist with this project. 'The Place to Be' will include:

  • Identifying Downtown Infrastructure, Infill Development, and Beautification Projects
  • Developing a Strategic Project Implementation Strategy
  • Updating the Special Area Plan (SAP)
  • Updating the SmartCode
  • Laying the groundwork for a 10-yr extension to the Downtown Community Redevelopment Area (CRA)
  • Incorporating relevant findings from the Sponge Docks and Greektown Placemaking Plan

PROJECT BOUNDARY

The project boundary includes the Downtown CRA, as well as, the Sponge Docks and Greektown neighborhood. The Sponge Docks and Greektown are included based on the recently completed Placemaking Plan, which recommended potential new and/or updated form-based regulations for these areas.
