The City of Tarpon Springs has completed a final draft of the Adaptation and Resiliency Plan for the Historic District and Greektown. The plan addresses ways to mitigate coastal storm and sea level rise hazards that threaten to impact our historic resources. The City's Local Historic District and the Greektown National Cultural District contain many buildings that contribute to the architecture, character and history of Tarpon Springs, especially in the downtown and Sponge Docks areas of the City. As these buildings age they become more vulnerable to flooding, wind damage and other hazards. This plan will seek to identify ways that property owners and the City can adapt these historic resources for greater resiliency without detracting from their historic character.
