Map showing the Greektown National Cultural District and Local Historic District boundaries.

The City of Tarpon Springs is in the process of completing a plan for adaptation and resiliency of the City's local historic district and the Greektown national district. The plan will address ways to mitigate coastal storm and sea level rise hazards that threaten to impact our historic resources. The Historic District and the Greektown National Cultural District contain many buildings that contribute to the architecture, character and history of Tarpon Springs, especially in the downtown and Sponge Docks areas of the City. As these buildings age they become more vulnerable to flooding, wind damage and other hazards. This plan will seek to identify ways that property owners and the City can adapt these historic resources for greater resiliency without detracting from their historic character.
