When will debris be picked up?

    UPDATED 10/24/2024

The City has incurred an unprecedented amount of storm debris and trash in the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. We are collecting and processing the excess waste as quickly as possible.

    • LARGE DEBRIS TRUCKS - The black trucks are continuing daily, picking up storm debris from the affected neighborhoods.
    • STORM DEBRIS - Residents can also take storm debris to the Yard Waste Facility, 101 E. Meres Blvd. 24/7 at no cost.
    • YARD WASTE - Yard waste pickup east of Alt. 19 resumed on 10/24. Yard waste pickup west of Alt. 19 will resume Monday, 10/28. Residents can still take yard waste to 898 S. Levis Avenue until further notice at no cost.
    • RECYCLABLES - Recycling pickup resumed on 10/24. Residents can still take recyclables to the Dog/Splash Park, behind Fire Station 70 on Gulf Road, and to Anderson Park near the boat launch at no cost.
    • HOUSEHOLD TRASH - Waste Management is currently collecting regular solid waste (household trash).
    • ANNUAL FALL CLEANUP - The annual clean-up scheduled for October 27th is canceled and will be rescheduled for a later date.

Please continue to monitor this site for updates on the rescheduled Fall Cleanup, when recycling and yard waste pickup will resume, and debris removal guidelines.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation!

Is it OK to drink the water from the tap?

Yes, the City's potable water system is fully functional.

Can I flush the toilet or take a shower?

City crews have restored wastewater service to all City wastewater lift stations. Permanent repairs are ongoing, and residents are asked to continue to minimize water use for essential uses as several areas have temporary pump stations in place. If your neighborhood or business has a private lift station, contact the HOA or management company with any questions.

My house flooded! What do I do next??

    • Photograph and list all damaged or lost items, including their age and value where possible. Take photos of how high the water was in the house. After photographing, remove any wet contents as soon as possible to prevent mold. Clean and disinfect everything that got wet.
    • Contact your insurance agent and file your insurance claim as soon as possible. Learn more at pinellas.gov/flood-insurance.
    • Do not work on your home that is beyond your limitations, especially with large tree branches.
    • Make sure contractors you hire are licensed - unlicensed or fraudulent contractors often target desperate homeowners in the aftermath of hurricanes. Learn more at pinellas.gov/choosing-a-contractor. If you do not have internet access, you can also call the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board at (727) 582-3100 and choose Option 2 for Licensing to check whether a contractor is licensed.
