The final day for debris and yard waste pickup is FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2024. If you still have debris and yard waste for pickup, please have it at the curb before the 15th. Also, drop-off for yard waste and storm debris at the yard waste facility is available until Wednesday, November 20th. After the 20th, the Yard Waste Facility will resume normal operations.

The City has incurred an unprecedented amount of storm debris and trash in the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. We are collecting and processing the excess waste as quickly as possible.

  • LARGE DEBRIS TRUCKS - The black trucks are continuing daily, picking up storm debris from the affected neighborhoods. The last day for debris pickup with be Friday, November 15th.
  • STORM DEBRIS - Residents can also take storm debris to the Yard Waste Facility, 101 E. Meres Blvd. at no cost until Wednesday, November 20th. After the 20th, the Yard Waste Facility will resume normal operations. You are required to show two forms of matching ID identifying yourself as a resident of Tarpon Springs. The facility will close daily at 7:00 P.M.
  • YARD WASTE - Yard waste pickup has resumed. Residents can still take yard waste to 898 S. Levis Avenue until Wednesday, November 20th at no cost. After the 20th, the Yard Waste Facility will resume normal operations.
  • RECYCLABLES - Recycling pickup resumed on 10/24. Residents can still take recyclables to the Dog/Splash Park, behind Fire Station 70 on Gulf Road, and to Anderson Park near the boat launch at no cost.
  • HOUSEHOLD TRASH - Waste Management is currently collecting regular solid waste (household trash). Other collections (yard waste and recycling) are suspended temporarily until further notice.
  • PRIVATE GATED COMMUNITIES - The large debris trucks are not allowed to enter private gated communities per the contract. The City has put in a request to FEMA for a waiver to allow the trucks to enter these communities and the City is waiting on a response.
  • ANNUAL FALL CLEANUP - The annual clean-up has been rescheduled for Sunday, January 12, 2025. Items must be out at the curb by 7:00 A.M. Click here for more information.

Debris Pickup Continues

They will be working seven days a week until all debris is collected. Ensure that debris is curbside and stacked according to the debris guidelines (pictured below).

Crews will be making several sweeps and may be at your home multiple times for pickup.

Please remove vehicles from the streets, it is imperative that the trucks have access to collect the debris.

PLEASE NOTE DO NOT PUT DEBRIS IN BLACK PLASTIC BAGS, IF USING PLASTIC, ONLY CLEAR PLASTIC BAGS ARE ACCEPTED. THE PREFERENCE IS FOR DEBRIS TO BE LOOSE OR IN CONTAINERS.

Please be patient as the crews work their way throughout the City.

Drop Off Locations - Recyclables and Yard Waste
Residents can take yard waste to the 898 Levis St. site at no cost.

Recyclables can be taken to three locations:
  • Tarpon Springs Dog Park/Splash Park
  • Behind Fire Station 70 on Gulf Rd.
  • Anderson Park (near the boat ramp)
These drop-off locations will remain open as long as necessary.

Lithium-Ion Battery Disposal Information

  • Electronics with lithium-ion batteries or small rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that were affected by water due to Hurricane Helene should be disposed of at Pinellas County Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 2855 109th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL. (Open Tuesday - Friday and the first & third Saturdays only from 7:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.)

    • The Pinellas County Household Hazardous Waste Facility does local hazardous materials events where they host drop off locations for these items at sites around the county. Visit the link above for up to date event information.
  • Large lithium-ion batteries such as car batteries, lawnmower batteries, E-Bike batteries affected by the storm must be disposed of by a private sector recycling company.
  • CAUTION: Lithium-ion batteries pose a fire risk when exposed to saltwater or are damaged.
